We are George and Alex, Father and son Mystery Entertainers covering Birmingham and the West Midlands, and between us, we carry something a little unusual: Two generations of mystery, one unforgettable experience.
Not as a trick, not as a show, but as a living, breathing conversation between past and present, between what we know and what we thought we knew.
What we create together is called The Mindsways Magic Experience, and it’s unlike anything your guests will have ever encountered before.

Picture this: the room shifts. The noise fades. Someone in your group is asked to simply think of something: a word, a memory, a decision they haven’t shared with a soul. And then… we know it all.
That moment, that sharp intake of breath, that wide-eyed turn to the person standing next to them, that is what we do.
The Mindsways Magic Experience is an immersive journey into the hidden architecture of the human mind. Using psychological illusion, misdirection, mischief and magic, we will read your thoughts, anticipate your choices, and occasionally, with your permission, bend your reality just enough to make you question what you were so certain of a moment ago.
For the brave and the bold: we go deeper… decisions carry real consequences. We face real, risky results, as your decisions become deliciously real and genuinely, thrillingly dangerous.
Is it fact or fiction?
Is it truth or trickery?
Are they miracles or just magic?
When we finish… You will be the judge.

But this is never cold or clinical. There is real laughter here, surrounded by moments of honest, human connection. There is warmth, wit and wonder. It’s the kind of shared astonishment that turns strangers into friends and friends into co-conspirators.
Your guests won’t just watch this experience; they’ll be woven into it. They’ll leave with stories they’ll still be telling weeks from now.
You may find yourself wondering, afterwards, whether every choice you made was entirely your own. Because that’s the thing about genuine mystery. It doesn’t leave when we do.
Whether you’re looking for something that will define your event, electrify your party, or simply give the people you love an evening they will never quite forget, The Mindsways Magic Experience was made for exactly that moment.
We are George and Alex. And we would love to share memories that will last a lifetime with you.

“I was effectively homeless at 6 years old, sitting in the back of a car surrounded by stolen cabbages. I’ve been laughing at the darkness ever since.”

George says: “Magic, mystery and psychology have always had a strong appeal for me.”
“From a very early age, I found myself effectively homeless, outside of the school system and had no money. I had been forced to move from Glasgow to the West Midlands where my mother was required to live with her estranged husband, my father.
The relationship I had with my own father was fraught with violence, abuse and neglect. This was an incredibly difficult time for me, yet I found solace (and warmth) in the local library. Instead of going to school, I would read books upon books, reading and learning about things much more advanced than any of my peers would.
“Even through all of this, I always kept a sense of humour. I remember being about 6 years old, in the back of a car, surrounded by people who had stolen a heap of cabbages and potatoes, and all I could do was laugh. I found that the adult world was full of grim and bitter darkness, but in this, there was always an absurdity, always a way of laughing, always a way of thinking my way out.
“This pattern, having a very different view of the world informed by poverty and neglect, but working to improve myself and see the funny side of things, continued through my adulthood, where I found myself studying social psychology and working with groups of disaffected, vulnerable and harder to place young men. Like myself, they too had fallen out of the system, and though incredibly intelligent in unique ways, they struggled to listen to authority and maintain any sense of structure. All of my academic training was of no use here, so I turned to a rather unorthodox and alternative approach: using magic to connect with them.
“By first performing magic and mind-reading, then teaching them how to do it themselves, they would find themselves, often for the first time in their lives, the ones in control of a situation. More importantly, it helped me understand these people, to connect with them and to appreciate their point of views.
“This sense of empowerment was incredible to see, and produced amazing results in these young adults. This eventuality led to me working in the NHS as a professional consultant and psychologist, advising on and advocating for people with disabilities and learning difficulties. I kept using the skills I had acquired in magic and made a name for myself by combining mentalism with my training programmes.
“All of this was great, but I still felt something was missing. I loved magic, mystery and performing, but it was only an incidental part of what I did. I wanted to focus on it full time, so, I decided to retire from my work in the NHS to focus on performing professionally.
“It just so happened that Alex was also looking at performing full-time, so, together, we decided we would form Mindsways Magic and work together as father-and-son.
“I am incredibly proud of the work that I have done over the years, from the cold streets of the Black Country to parties, board rooms and stages across the UK. I believe that what I’m now doing with my son is the culmination of 30 years of hard-earned experience, helping others to improve their lives, creating real impact through the use of magic, psychology and mystery, and empowering people to achieve their full potential through their own capabilities, and creating connections through the impossible.”
“For every bruise, for every bite and burn I’ve gone through, magic and mystery has always been the healing balm.”

Alex says: “The thing I love most about magic and mystery is how it brings us all together. At the end of the day, we’re all human, and we all want to connect with each other – we all want to feel part of something, and that something should feel rich, expansive and amazing.
“Magic captures that feeling of child-like wonder, of a time when a cardboard box could be a spaceship, or a castle, or a burning hot volcano. Rediscovering that element of play, playfulness, joy and wonder is what really wakes me up in the morning.
“For all my adult life, I have faced challenges with coming to accept who I am. I have a swirling mix of ADHD, twinges of autism, criss-crossing with anxiety and bouts of depression, struggles with being bullied at school, issues with my weight, questions about my faith and discovering my own strange strand of being bi-sexual, plus enough traumatic memories to last a lifetime. This means that in almost every way, I have always been an outsider.
“But for everything I’ve been through, there’s always been a healing process using magic, mystery and more than a hint of mischief. Finding the funny in any situation, finding a way of laughing and enjoying the moment, finding a way to share my story with others and let other “outsiders” know that they’re not alone, that we’re strong on our own and even stronger together, those are what I’ve learned to love from those experiences.
“When I was 12, I found myself being able to make a full classroom of a drama class laugh out loud (including one of my bullies). This kindled a life-long love of theatre, comedy and being on-stage. For the first time, I found that I was in control of a situation, and that I could really be open about who I was in front of a group of strangers.
“I spent the following 6 years at drama school, studying at the Birmingham School of Speech and Drama, and performing every week on stage. When I was 19, I decided to commit to performing magic and mystery fully, left university and I haven’t looked back since.
“For me, being able to perform magic, mystery and mischief have allowed me to explore these ideas and aspects of who I am in a safe, welcoming and positive way. It opens up my ability to tell stories and share what it means to be human. Magic and mystery aren’t just my day job, they’re what I do for a living; I think about from the moment I get up to the moment I go to sleep, what I eat, drink, breathe.
“Magic has always been there for me, acting like a bright, shining doorway to open up about myself and to let others in, and I love being able to spend my life sharing it.”
We can also combine our Thoughts Allowed packages with the Mind Reach: Mystery, Mix and Mingle packages. Please get in touch to see how this would work for you.
